You should be able to pop this piece of plastic out with your hands. Slide the new hard drive into the hard drive bay an d secure it with the screws you will find on the front bezel of the computer. 4 Locate the ribbon cable that runs from the motherb oard to the existing hard drive. When looking at the inside of the PC, you can recognize the IDE ribbon cable by looking for a wid Body for Life e gray plastic cable. This cable will have white connectors on each end--one connecting to the existing hard drive and the other t o the motherboard--and one free in the middle. Use the free connector in the middle of the cable to connect it to the IDE connecto PurplePixie r on the new hard drive. If the ribbon cable on your computer has only two connections, you will need to replace it with a ribbon . rive. Look at the connector on the back of the hard drive and locate the wire that matches that connection. The power cable should have four holes on it--these holes will match the four prongs on the back of the hard drive. Plug that power connector into the h ard drive. 6 Plug the computer back in and turn it on. You should see a screen during the boot process that indicates that it has found the new hard drive. Accept the changes and continue to boot the PC. 7 Log on to the PC and right click on My Computer. Cho cloud icon ose Explore from the drop-down list and look for the new hard drive.
