10/04/2010: Mailing List 10/04/2010

Dear FreeNATTERS,

I hope you are well and your networks continue to thrash away fighting the good fight and passing spam emails from node to node at acceptable volumes.

New Beta/Stable Release

With a mighty thunk the new beta/stable release has arrived on the scene - 1.09.2b for your delectation and delight.

This rolls up the last 9-ish months of developmental updates including:

* The extras package
* All new ICMP/Ping functionality to get rid of false reports
* Node utility links
* Numerous bug fixes

Mailing List Email in HTML Format

As you may have noticed this mail is in HTML format with all the wonders of size, boldness and colours that it allows.

I've done this as it seems nobody, not even me, uses a command-line email reader any more. Embrace the future I say (albeit several years too late).

rPath Upgrade Bug - DON'T UPDATE THE APPLIANCE

The rPath update bug (when you do an update to the operating system through the rPath web interface stuff like PHP gets removed) is still there.

I am still working on a fix but don't hold out much hope given that two days after I posted on the rPath forum they closed the forum down.

Plans are afoot to look at a totally different VM appliance for the future but this is still under consideration.

In the meantime - don't update the appliance and all will be well (you can still update the FreeNATS software just nothing through the rPath interface).

That's That Then

As always please do get in touch if you have any queries, questions, suggestions, flames or comments using the links below.

Regards,

Dave.
