28/08/2008: New in Version 1

The next major version of FreeNATS (version 1) is nearing the end of alpha testing (I hope) and will soon be made into a general release.

New features in this update include customisable test intervals, backup/restore functionality, discovery/import tools and agent-based nodeside testing for POSIX (Unix/Linux) and Windows nodes. More information about the new features and the upgrade process are available in the new support wiki.

This version is currently available as a development release and you are free to give it a try. For information on upgrading your VM to a developmental version (or upgrading a newly downloaded test VM) please see this document and the download page for the current version.

Developers are now able to easily code plug-in tests and event handlers in PHP.

Anyone running a source release should please note some functionality may cause errors in PHP4 or other environments. Please report these as they can at least be mitigated against and so not cause a total failure.
